Auburn in the NFL: Week 10 rundownAuburn in the NFL: Week 10 rundown
Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

It was a week to remember for Angelo Blackson and Daniel Thomas as both players set career highs in tackles for their respective teams. For Thomas (above), who had eight stops, it was also the first NFL start in his young career. That and more in this week's NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 10

Angelo Blackson, DE, Arizona Cardinals
Making his second start of the season, Blackson finished with a career-high five tackles in Sunday's 32-30 win over the Buffalo Bills. The sixth-year player, who was signed by the Cardinals a week before the season began, played 43 snaps Sunday – the most of any defensive lineman on the team. He now has 12 tackles, three QB hits and a sack through the first nine games.

Daniel Carlson, K, Las Vegas Raiders
Carlson has still yet to miss a kick at home this season. The third-year kicker made all three of his field goals and was a perfect 4 of 4 on extra points to help lead the Raiders past the Denver Broncos, 37-12. The long kick of the day came from 52 yards out, which makes Carlson 4 of 4 on field goals of 50 yards or more on the season. He also connected on field goals from 22 and 24 yards out in Sunday's victory.

Cam Newton, QB, New England Patriots
On a night where the conditions were poor, Newton did just enough to lead the Patriots to victory The former NFL MVP completed 13 of his 17 passes for 118 yards and threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Rex Burkhead. He also rushed for 21 yards and added a second score on the ground. More importantly, he didn't turn the ball over. It was the 41st game in Newton's NFL career with both a passing and rushing touchdown.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Slayton hauled in five catches for 93 yards, including a spectacular toe-tap grab in the fourth quarter that went for 40 yards and led to a field goal in the Giants' 27-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Slayton ran a double move, caught it over his shoulder and then had the concentration to get both feet down before going out of bounds. He now has 38 receptions for 584 yards on the season, both of which lead the team.

Braden Smith, OL, Indianapolis Colts
Coming off a Week 9 performance that landed him on PFF's NFL Team of the Week, Smith had another impressive showing in Thursday night's 34-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The starting right tackle did not allow a sack and protected quarterback Philip Rivers who threw for 308 yards and a touchdown. The Colts also ran for 133 yards and two scores. Per PFF, Smith is ranked No. 27 among all NFL offensive tackles with an overall grade of 75.6. He's yet to allow a sack this season.

Daniel Thomas, DB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Thomas earned his first NFL start Sunday and delivered with a career-high eight tackles against the Green Bay Packers. The rookie safety, who was taken in the fifth round of April's NFL draft, stepped in for an injured Josh Jones and played 100 percent of the defensive snaps. His eight tackles were second-most on the team. As a defense, the Jaguars held Green Bay to 80 yards rushing and just 3.2 yards per attempt.
