Auburn Baseball Fall World Series Notebook

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn baseball wrapped up its annual Fall World Series with the Orange team winning the decisive game five, 2-1, Thursday night at Plainsman Park. 

After Bryson Ware got the Blue team started with a solo home run in the top of the first, a two-run bottom of the fifth inning was the difference for the Orange squad. Judd Ward tied the game with a two-out single and Rankin Woley brought in the winning run as he drew a bases-loaded hit by pitch later in the frame. Karl Nonemaker and the Orange team received a strong performance on the mound from the trio of Richard Fitts, Jack Owen and Mason Barnett, who combined to allow one run on three hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts in the six-inning contest. 

The Orange team jumped out to a 2-0 series lead behind the strength of its starting pitching in the first two games of the series. Fitts and Owen held the opposition to one run on four hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts, while Barnett and freshman southpaw Cam Hill closed the door in the door in games one and two.  

However, Gabe Gross and the Blue team's offense came to life in games three and four, combining for 21 runs in the two games to force the decisive game five. The trio of Brayton Brown, Cole Foster and Tyler Miller led the way from the plate and combined for 11 hits, 10 runs, two home runs, five doubles, and 12 RBI in the pair of wins.
