ATHENS, Ga. – After a double bogey on the first hole, Megan Schofill responded to shoot 3-under the rest of the way Friday and finished with a 1-under 71 to lead Auburn on the first day of the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic.

Schofill, a freshman playing in her second season with the Tigers, made three birdies for the round and is currently tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard.

Schofill is one of three Auburn players to place in the top 20 through one round. Freshman Elina Sinz, fresh off a top-five finish at The Ally last month, fired a 73 (+1) with a pair of birdies Friday to place in a tie for 12th, and junior Mychael O'Berry is one shot back and tied for 19th  overall after finishing the first round with a 74 (+2).

Freshman Anna Foster carded a 75 (+3) and is tied for 28th individually. It was the third straight round at 3-over for Foster who closed The Ally with a 75 in each of the last two rounds.

As a team, Auburn shot 293 (+5) in Friday's first round from the University of Georgia Golf Course (Par 72; 6,302 yards). The Tigers are currently sitting in sixth place, one shot back of second and five shots back of the leader.

"We had a strong back nine to get back in the hunt," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We have to get started stronger. None of our five players have ever played this course, and they will learn more each day they play it. It's moving day tomorrow."

Georgia, the host school, leads the field at even par (288), followed by Vanderbilt (292), Tennessee (292), LSU (292), Mississippi State (292), Auburn (293), Arkansas (296), Kentucky (296), Texas A&M (299), Alabama (303), Georgia B (305) and Missouri (309).

Auburn will be the first group to tee off again Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT, and will be paired with LSU and Mississippi State. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com
