So why Auburn?

"Well, I was playing in junior tournaments in South America & Central America, they call it ITF tournaments, and the coaches started recruiting people there from their rankings. I got that information from my coach."

What is your favorite part about campus life?

"The student center is pretty cool -- they have good places to eat, study, and it's a good environment overall."

What are your favorite sports to attend at Auburn other than tennis?

"I like a lot of the football games; they're really good."

Where is the most unusual place you've heard War Eagle?

"Probably back home in Costa Rica in the airport!"

What's your major?

"Industrial Systems Engineering."

What is the most interesting class you've taken here at Auburn?

"Deterministic operations research, because it's optimizing problems using statistics."

How do you balance school and tennis?

"It's a lot of time management and knowing how and when to study. Now I know myself and I know the best way I learn, so I use my resources and the resources Auburn athletics provide to get the work done."

What advice would you give a young athlete looking to play collegiate tennis?

"I'd say college tennis is very different than what you're used to, because it's a lot of fight! You're playing for your team -- you're not just playing individually -- so you're playing for something much bigger than yourself. Being a great teammate and being a fighter means a lot more than just talent."

Do any of your other family members play sports?

"My older brother played tennis for Oklahoma, my dad played tennis in his early twenties and my sister is currently playing college tennis at Mercer University."

Who is your favorite tennis player?

"My favorite tennis player is definitely Roger Federer."

At what age did you start tennis?

"I think I first started playing tennis at 4 or 5 maybe."

What do you believe is your best tennis skill?

"I think I'm quick and accurate and I think my play is good at the net."

What has been your best moment in tennis?

"To be honest, maybe this past weekend. That was a very cool moment just to be at Clemson winning 4-3 with a huge clinch. It's probably one of my best experiences in tennis."

What sport would you play if not tennis?

"I would definitely play soccer. I am a big soccer fan. I played since I was little in school and in high school as well, so definitely soccer."

What's your career goal after tennis?

"I want to try tennis for a little while, but I think after that, I want to work in manufacturing with supply chain management."
