AUBURN, Ala. – Jan Galka is joining the Auburn men's tennis team for the fall semester as a transfer from Louisiana-Lafayette, head coach Bobby Reynolds announced today. Galka, from Warsaw, Poland, will join the roster as a junior.
"I am very excited about Jan Galka joining our team for next season," Coach Reynolds said. "He exemplifies all the characteristics the coaches are looking for both on the court and off the court. I knew right away Auburn was the right place for Jan to continue his athletic and academic career – from the first minute sitting down with Jan, it felt like I had known him for years. He will bring success to our program in both singles and doubles, and I look forward to getting on court with him soon."
As a freshman, he went 10-9 in singles, with an 8-8 mark at No. 1 and was 12-7 in doubles, as Galka was named to the Sun Belt Conference first team.
He was 7-2 in singles and 7-3 in doubles as a sophomore, earning first team LSWA honors. He was named Sun Belt player of the week in February.
Before coming to college, Galka, who was a medalist in the Polish championships, earned points toward an ATP ranking in both singles and doubles. He placed second in doubles in last summer's Wroclaw World Cup tournament. Galka has a singles UTR of 12.94 and doubles UTR of 13.44. He made the finals and semifinals of the 15k Futures in Poland in 2019.
