A new crop of Tigers is on The Plains and ready to get to work. Follow along over the next few weeks as we re-introduce our 2020 class through a question and answer segment with each player.
Our second member of the 2020 signing class is freshman forward Jolie Baltzegar. Jolie is a native of Evans, Georgia, and is a product of Greenbrier High School and a pair of club programs in Tophat SC and Armada FC.
Q: Who or what inspired you to play soccer?
A: My older brothers both played soccer when I was little, so I always looked up to them and wanted to fit it in with their sport as soon as possible. I started playing with them as soon as I could walk.
Q: What is your favorite soccer memory growing up?
A: My favorite soccer memory would be going to see the USWNT with front row tickets, getting all their signatures, and hugging my favorite player, Julie Ertz.
Q: What is your biggest accomplishment on or off the field?
A: Committing to Auburn was by far the best day of my life. The hard work and effort it took to commit somewhere, especially to my favorite school, had finally paid off and it will always be my biggest accomplishment.
Q: Do you have any pre-match superstitions?
A: Yes! If I don't pray before I play I do badly. Prayer is a must before every game.
Q: What made you choose Auburn?
A: When I first visited Auburn I could not believe how nice everyone was and how family oriented it is. The cultural family, great facilities, great coaches and staff is why I chose to play at Auburn.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: The Iron bowl is by far the best time of the year. Gathering around to cheer on Auburn while we play Alabama will always generate the best memories, especially when we win!
Q: What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
A: After COVID hit, soccer was put on hold for a long time. We have all been training for months and months on our own, just waiting for the opportunity to play again. I cannot wait to get back on the field and play with an Auburn jersey on my back.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: Chicken alfredo is the BEST!
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: If I could fly I would go around the world and view all the amazing sights from above. I would love to see the seven wonders of the world … and be able to skip traffic.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: The office and psych are my two shows I watch on repeat.
Q: What major do you plan to pursue and what do you want to do with it?
A: I plan on pursuing nursing and hopefully one day specializing in pediatrics.
Q: What are your goals during your time at Auburn?
A: Auburn will encourage me to become the best player and version of myself that I can be. I hope to help the team in scoring goals and competing for a SEC Championship.
Q: What do you hope to do when your playing days are over?
A: If I have the opportunity to play professionally, I would love to do so. However, if not, I would love working as a pediatric nurse and pursuing my career and life outside of soccer.
