Tigers tied for third after opening day at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 8 Auburn men's golf team is tied for third after the first day of the Gator Invitational Friday afternoon. The Tigers are 14-under through 30 holes at the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course.

No. 5 Georgia leads the field at 20-under after the first round plus 12 holes into the second round, followed by Liberty at 17-under. Auburn and No. 23 LSU sit just three strokes back at 14-under.

Andrew Kozan and Jovan Rebula are tied for eighth overall at 4-under. Kozan, who produced an even-par first round, has five birdies through 12 holes in the second round. Rebula has four birdies midway through the second circuit after firing a 1-under 69 in the first round.

Alex Vogelsong is tied for 27th at 2-under. The sophomore had 15 pars in the first round and added three birdies and an eagle in his opening 11 holes to start the second round.

J.M. Butler and Wells Padgett are tied for 42nd at 1-under midway through the second tour. Butler had nine birdies on the day, while Padgett contributed seven.

Rounding out the lineup, Graysen Huff is tied for 85th at 3-over.

The Tigers are paired with Arkansas and North Florida to close out the tournament with the goal of completing both the second and final rounds Saturday. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
