Three Tigers shoot par or better to open Moon Golf

Mychael O'Berry is tied for 15th overall after shooting a 71 (-1) on Sunday.

MELBOURNE, Fla. – It was a fast start for No. 5 Auburn on Sunday as Mychael O'Berry, Anna Foster and Elina Sinz all made birdies on their first hole of the day. The Tigers wrapped up the first round at 1-over, putting them in seventh place at the Moon Golf Invitational. 

O'Berry birdied her first two holes Sunday and finished with a team-best five birdies for the round. She carded a 1-under 71 and is currently tied for 15th on the individual leaderboard. Going back to the fall, the senior has now shot par or better in four of her last five rounds, averaging 70.8 per round in that span. 

Sinz and Kaleigh Telfer are also in the top 20 after the first round. The Auburn duo each shot a 72 to finish at even par. Telfer knocked in one birdie and made par on 16 holes while Sinz, a true freshman, made a pair of birdies on the day. They are both in a tie for 19th overall.   

Foster, another true freshman, is tied for 40th following a round of 74 (+3) and rounding out the Auburn contingent is Megan Schofill who shot a 77 (+5) and is in a tie for 68th.

South Carolina leads the field at 8-under par (280), followed by UCF (282), Florida State (285), LSU (285), Virginia (285), Illinois (291), Auburn (289), Louisville (290), Florida (291), Arkansas (292), Alabama (292), Miami (296), Coastal Carolina (299), North Carolina (299), Oklahoma (304), Augusta (304), Florida Gulf Coast (307) and Florida Atlantic (313). 

Auburn will be among the first teams to tee off at 7:10 a.m. CT for Monday's second round and will be paired with Louisville and Florida. Live scoring can be found on Golfstat.com
