Q: Why did you chose Auburn?
A: I chose Auburn for many reasons including the amazing equestrian program they have and a welcoming school environment. However, the main reason I chose Auburn was because when I came on my official visit here, the loving sisterhood vibe radiated from the girls and their energy was so contagious. It made me want to come here and be able to experience that same feeling.
How long have you been riding and what is the name of the first pony you rode?
I had been begging my mom to let me start riding since the age of four, but she never let me start taking actual lessons until I was seven years old. Until I was seven, I would just go on pony rides on my neighbor's horses. It wasn't until I was about eight years old that I joined a competitive riding team at my barn and started taking it very seriously. The name of the first horse I rode was "Ally" and I still own her to this day! She is the best mare you could imagine and is living up her retired life in my pasture at home.
You're from the complete opposite side of the country as Auburn. What are three major differences between North Bend, Washington and Auburn, Alabama?
Being over here is so different in many ways, but I still love it! The biggest differences are lack of coffee options, environment, and the people! At home there are small coffee shops on every corner with so many different options. The environment is a lot different because at home I live in the mountains and lots of greenery, whereas here in Alabama it is very dry and flat. The people here are just a lot more laid back I would say, however I still love my people back home in Washington.
Hot or cold weather? Why?
Both? I'm definitely a snow baby, however hot weather is just more enjoyable overall and more consistent.
What is the best vacation you've been on and what made it so awesome?
My family went to Hawaii for Christmas a couple years ago and it was so much fun. My family doesn't normally go on vacations because our version of vacation is going to horse shows. However, going to Hawaii felt like a special treat and was so relaxing!
If you're stranded on a deserted island, what three teammates do you bring with and why?
If I was stranded on a deserted island, I would bring Isabella Tesmer, Madison Parduhn, and Samantha Briggs. Isabella would keep us in line and actually help us stay alive. Madison would bring some entertainment but also probably get eaten first. Sam would be super positive the whole time encouraging us to stay alive and make the best of it.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I have always wanted to be able to read minds. Although that might not be the smartest choice on my part, the curiosity in me just wants to know what people are thinking.
What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
My favorite Auburn tradition is the Tiger Walk! I remember it being so much fun when I was here on my visit last year so I'm sad it didn't get to happen this year.
What is your major and what do you plan on doing with it?
I am majoring in Kinesiology, specifically Exercise Science in hopes of being a physical therapist one day! When I injured my knee in high school, I loved my physical therapist and she inspired me to pursue that career as well.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
I like to hang out with friends mostly in my free time and just go out to eat or play games!
What movie could you watch on repeat and why?
My family always makes fun of my ability to watch movies over and over again without being made fun of. However, one specific movie that I watch on repeat is Pitch Perfect 2 because it is really funny but also a heartwarming story and the songs are catchy.
How would your friends and family describe you in three words?
Thoughtful, confident, grounded
What are your go-to pizza toppings and why?
My favorite pizza of all time is pesto sauce, cheese, chicken, and tomatoes. It is so yummy and reminds me of home!
Favorite spot on campus?
I don't really have a favorite spot on campus, but if I had to pick I would say the student center. It is always fun just studying with teammates and getting some food to eat!
What has been your favorite memory so far with your teammates?
I have a couple favorite memories. Just a basic one is driving around Auburn late at night and jamming out to music with a packed car of my teammates. However, a specific memory would be when a bunch of us went to a haunted house during Halloween time and went through the haunted forest. It was so funny to see a different side of everyone come out.
