AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team moved up a spot to No. 18 this week per RoadtoNationals.com. The weekly rankings are based on the average score over the season.
The Tigers improved their average to 196.163 following another big performance last week. Auburn topped Georgia with a 197.050 at home.
"These next two meets are going to be important for us," head coach Jeff Graba said. "We're just focused on our score and making sure we put together a really good performance at Florida and again at home against Arkansas."
Florida remains at the No. 1 spot with LSU coming at No. 2. Oklahoma moved up to third with Utah and Michigan rounding out the Top 5.
The rest of the Southeastern Conference continues to be ranked in the Top 25. Arkansas a d Alabama are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively. Kentucky is No. 14 and Georgia moved down to No. 15, while Missouri comes in at No. 23.
Junior Derrian continues to climb the rankings in a handful of events following a big performance vs. the Bulldogs last week. She moved up to 12th on floor with a 9.9 average. Her career-best 9.95 on bars last week pushed her to 16th in the event nationally (9.875) and Gobourne currently ranks 19th on vault at 9.871.
Sophomore Cassie Stevens moved up in the all-around rankings and enters the week at No. 25. Behind a career-high 39.450 vs. Georgia, the Phoenix, Ariz., product is now averaging a 39.269 over four meets competed.
