Gobourne named SEC Specialist of the Week

AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Derrian Gobourne of the No. 18 Auburn gymnastics team was named the SEC Specialist of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.
 
The award is the second of the season for the Sarasota, Fla., product as she helped the squad top rival Georgia last week with a 197.050-196.150 victory.  
 
Gobourne scored a 9.925 or better in all three events competed against the Bulldogs last Friday, winning at least a share of each event title.
 
Highlighting her night was her win on bars. Gobourne set a career high with a 9.95 in the anchor slot, taking her second bars title of the season. In addition, her score helped the Tigers reach a season best in the event as a team with a 49.475.
 
Gobourne opened the meet with a season-high 9.925 on vault to win the event crown. It was her second vault title of the year. She capped the meet with another 9.925 on floor, sharing the win. Her finish marked the third-straight floor title this season and it was her third-consecutive meet with a 9.925 or higher in the event.
 
With her help, Auburn also set season bests on vault (49.225) and floor (49.350).
 
Auburn faces No. 1 Florida for the second time this year, traveling to Gainesville next week. The Tigers and the Gators will go head-to-head in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center at 7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network, Feb. 26.
