ROUND ROCK, TX. – No. 17 Auburn suffered its first loss of the season, falling 4-3 in 10 innings to Oklahoma Friday in the first game of the Round Rock Classic.

Oklahoma scored a run in the eighth and ninth inning to send the game to extras. The Sooner won it on a two-out, bases-loaded single that sailed just beyond a diving attempt from Brody Moore at second base.

"I thought we came back out and swung the bats again with a ton of confidence," head coach Butch Thompson said. "We had a starter throwing really well, hit the ball hard, and I thought the turning point was when (Godman) got in the ballgame with the bases loaded, nobody out. Judd Ward could not have hit the ball any harder and the shortstop caught it, and it kind of turned from there."

Auburn jumped on Oklahoma starter Wyatt Olds, who lasted just three innings and gave up three runs on seven hits.

Judd Ward and Ryan Bliss started the game with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with nobody out. The Tigers' leadoff man then came in to score on a ground ball.

Bliss hit a solo homer with one out in the third and Steven Williams extended the advantage to 3-0 with a solo shot of his own two batters later.

The Tigers threatened again in the fourth as the first three batters reached. However, Oklahoma got out of the inning as a line drive was snared by the shortstop and the inning ended on a 1-2-3 double play.

Oklahoma got on the scoreboard with a walk and a pair of hits in the fifth to cut the Auburn lead to 3-1.

After Kason Howell made a diving catch to record the second out in the eighth, the Sooners cut into the lead with a run on a two-out RBI single and tied the game on a sacrifice fly an inning later.

The Tigers totaled 11 hits in the contest, led by Ryan Bliss' three hits, marking his third multi-hit effort in his fourth game this season. Rankin Woley, Howell and Cam Hill added two hits apiece.

Cody Greenhill pitched 4.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts before being removed from the game in the fifth.

Carson Skipper pitched 2.0 shutout innings and allowed one hit with one walk and three strikeouts. He retired the last five batters he faced.

Joseph Gonzalez and Mason Barnett each tossed 1.1 innings in relief and surrendered a their first runs of the season. Seb Thomas made his team high fourth appearance and suffered the loss.

The Tigers turn around to face Baylor Saturday at 12 p.m. at Dell Diamond.
