Auburn team huddle vs. LSU

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn and LSU battled to a 0-0 draw at the Auburn Soccer Complex Friday night.

With the result, Auburn has now either defeated or tied LSU in 11 straight contests dating back to 2011.

The result also marks the Tigers' second straight shutout and the team's fifth of the season. Auburn hasn't allowed a goal in a span of 268:14 dating back to its contest against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament.

"I thought we started the game really slow, but we grew into the contest and created enough chances to win," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "We just couldn't find the back of the net."

Auburn was the aggressor throughout much of the contest as the home Tigers outshot LSU 16-6 and put seven shots on frame.

Coming off a record-matching, four-assist game against Kennesaw State last Friday, Anna Haddock led the offensive effort with a season high eight shots, including four on frame.

Freshman goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska made a big save in the opening minutes of the match and set Auburn's defensive tone. Prohaska totaled five saves in the contest and pitched her fourth solo shutout.

The Tigers nearly broke into the scoring on a pair of chances from Haddock in the middle of the first half, and Marissa Arias attempted a highlight bicycle kick in the final minutes before halftime.

Auburn continued to stay aggressive with seven shots in the second half but wasn't able to find the back of the net. Haddock's shot in the final minute of regulation was destined to curl inside the far post, but LSU goalkeeper Mollee Swift made a diving deflection to keep it scoreless. Hailey Whitaker and Alyssa Malonson also had chances to put the Tigers in front in the final five minutes of the second half.

Fifteen Auburn players saw action in the contest, including four who played all 110 minutes and three more who played 80 or more.

Auburn's schedule continues with its first road trip this spring as the Tigers travel to take on No. 16 Clemson (6-4-0) Saturday, Mar. 6 at 1 p.m.
