Gobourne named SEC Specialist of the Week

AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Derrian Gobourne of the No. 19 Auburn gymnastics team was named the Southeastern Conference's Specialist of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
 
The Sarasota, Fla., product put together big performances for the Tigers vs. No. 2 LSU Friday night, earning a pair of event titles. With her help, Auburn finished the night with a 197.075, breaking the 197 mark for the first time since 2019.
 
Gobourne kicked off the night with a season-best 9.9 on vault, winning a share of the event title. She followed with a 9.9 on bars and helped the Tigers score a 49.450 in the event.
 
Gobourne capped the evening in the anchor position on floor, scoring a career-high 9.975 with one judge giving her a 10. That score gave her the eighth floor crown of her career.
 
Auburn returns to competition Friday, Feb. 12, as the team travels to No. 28 Missouri. The two Tiger squads will face off at 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
