AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team jumped up to No. 12 in this week's rankings per RoadToNationals.com.
Starting this week, rankings will be based on a team's National Qualifying Score (NQS). This season, the NQS is determined based on the average between a team's top two road scores and top two home scores. Auburn's NQS moved the squad up six spots with a 196.813.
"It was so important to get a huge road score before NQS started and we did that last Friday," head coach Jeff Graba said. "Our position now puts us in a good place because we're getting closer to locking a seeded spot at Regionals. We have two meets left that could count towards NQS and so we still have more opportunities to move."
Florida remains at the No. 1 spot and Oklahoma jumped a spot to No. 2. LSU and Utah come in at spots three and four, while Minnesota moved up to No. 5.
The rest of the Southeastern Conference continues to be ranked in the Top 25. Alabama stands at No. 6, while Arkansas is eighth. Kentucky comes in at No. 14, while Georgia (No. 18) and Missouri (No. 22) round out the league.
Junior Derrian Gobourne is among the Top 20 in three events for the Tigers. She ranks third nationally on floor with a 9.944 NQS and is tied for 11th with a 9.9 on bars. Her 9.894 on vault ranks her tied for 17th.
Senior Drew Watson is tied for 23rd on vault with a 9.888 NQS and freshman Gabby McLaughlin stands tied for 11th on beam (9.919).
