BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn men's golfers J.M. Butler and C.J. Easley have been awarded by the Southeastern Conference, the league office announced Thursday. Butler was named SEC Freshman of the Week, while Easley was named SEC Newcomer of the Week.

For Butler, it is his second freshman of the week honor of the season (Feb. 17). It is Easley's second conference honor of his career and first this campaign.

The duo helped Auburn win the Tiger Invitational during the week in a field that featured 11 SEC teams and 11 teams ranked inside the top 50.

Butler was the team's third-highest finisher when he tied for 13th at 4-under (73-69-70--212) en route to his fourth top-25 finish of his first season on The Plains.

The Louisville, Ky. native tied for the eighth-best score in the 89-player field on the par 5s (-8) and 10th on the par 3s (even par).

Butler tallied 16 birdies on the week, including a team-best seven in the final round to help Auburn to a two-stroke victory.

Easley capped his three-round tournament in a tie for 11th at 5-under (70-69-72--211), his first top-15 finish of the season.

The Oxford, Miss. native racked up 13 birdies, tied for 12th-most by any SEC player during the tournament and tied for ninth-best score on par 4s (even par) and shot 6-under on par 5s.

Easley shot even par or better in all three rounds and had just seven bogeys in 54 holes on the week.

Auburn returns to the course March 26-28 for the Ole Waverly Collegiate in Starkville, Miss.
