AUBURN, Ala.—The Auburn track and field program will open the 2021 outdoor season at home as it hosts the Tiger Track Classic at Hutsell-Rosen Track, Friday and Saturday.

Action starts Friday at 2 p.m. with field events with running events slated to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday field events will begin at 11:30 a.m., while action on the track set to start at 12 p.m. This will be Auburn's first outdoor competition in two years, as last season's outdoor schedule was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We normally have an off week between indoors and the start of outdoors, but it shouldn't really affect any of our athletes," Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. "Most have had three weeks off from competition, so we'll be ready to go. We've got a great field of teams, so it should be a good start for us."

The Tigers are coming off a successful indoor season that saw the Tiger women finish10th nationally behind Joyce Kimeli, who won an NCAA championship at 5000m. On the men's side, Auburn had its best SEC Indoor point total in eight years behind sprinter Dante Brown who claimed the SEC 60m title.

Auburn will be one of 14 programs competing in the two-day meet. Auburn (M/W), Alabama (M/W), Alabama State (M/W), Clemson (M/W), Florida State (M/W), Louisville (M/W), MTSU (M/W), Ole Miss (M/W), South Alabama (M/W), South Carolina (M/W), Tennessee (M/W), Troy (M/W), UAB (W), and Vanderbilt (W).
