AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's Davis Edwards and Emily Hetzer were each named to the 2021 SEC Swimming and Diving Community Service Teams, the conference announced prior to last month's SEC Championships.

The men's and women's teams, which have a representative from each school, highlight student-athletes in the SEC who give back to their communities in superior service efforts.

Edwards, a sophomore was Auburn's representative for the men's team. He is one of the leaders in Auburn's CONNECT program, where he engages in monthly leadership development and serves a mentor for freshmen student-athletes. With that, he supports the monthly freshman transition events through planning and leads small group discussions at the end of each event.

Edwards, a CSCAA Scholar All-American last year, has also volunteered at the East Alabama Food Bank multiple times over the last 14 months.

Hetzer, currently in her third year at Auburn, is one of four representatives from the S&D team on Auburn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). As an officer, she has been instrumental in creating and implementing community engagement opportunities for Auburn student-athletes. She serves as assistant chairperson to the Community Engagement Chairperson.

Prior to COVID, Hetzer volunteered along with her teammates to send cookies and cards to law enforcement and nursing homes. This past year, she was part of a group who sent cards to East Alabama Medical Center.

Hetzer is a three-time CSCAA All-American in the pool, earning All-America honors in the 500 and 1650 freestyle last year as a sophomore. In 2019, she was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. This year, she's expected to once again qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Last year, senior Jessica Merritt and sophomore Brooks Merkle were selected as Auburn's representatives on the SEC S&D Community Service Team.
