AUBURN, Ala. – Senior defender Sarah Houchin was named Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention Tuesday.

The recognition marks the second time the senior captain has been honored by Top Drawer this season. Houchin has also been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week and Second Team All-SEC in the fall.

"We are thrilled to see Sarah recognized by Top Drawer," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "She has been playing at another level this spring, and that was evident in the Louisville game when she led our defense to only giving up two shots on goal on the road. In addition, she contributed massively to the offensive side by scoring the game-winning goal in a high-pressure situation of a PK in overtime."

The Coppell, Texas, native not only scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 107th minute, but she also played an instrumental role on the defensive end, leading Auburn to the team's fourth shutout in five matches this spring. Houchin's goal was the second goal of her career, including her first game-winner.

The Auburn defensive unit has only surrendered one goal in 487 minutes of action since play resumed in February.

Houchin continues to play and start in every contest since stepping foot on campus in 2017 and leads the Tigers with 1,459 minutes played this season.

Houchin and the Tigers continue the final stretch of the spring season with a matchup at archrival Alabama Saturday, Mar. 27 at 2 p.m. CT.
