AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Unique Thompson has been named a regional finalist for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America team, the WBCA announced Wednesday.
Thompson adds another honor to her list as she finished her fourth season on The Plains with numerous accolades. She led the Tigers with 17.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game, averaging a double-double for the third straight season. Her 12.8 rebounds per game led the SEC, and her 5.4 offensive rebounds per game led the nation. She was one of two players nationwide to have two games this season with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds. For her efforts this season, she was named to the All-SEC Second Team.
For her career, Thompson is Auburn's all-time leading rebounder with 1,156, and she is Auburn's 12th-leading scorer with 1,540 points. She is also Auburn's all-time leader in double-doubles with 58, including 16 during the 2020-21 season. She averaged 14.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game over her four-year career.
A total of 52 players nationwide were named regional finalists. The WBCA selection committee will choose the 10-member Coaches' All-America team from these finalists. The 2021 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team will be announced Saturday, April 3.
