COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Auburn women's golf team played the final nine holes of the third round Wednesday and finished fifth overall at the Gamecock Intercollegiate, making it four straight tournaments in the top five for the season.
The Tigers played 27 holes Tuesday, including the first nine of the third round, before wrapping up play with the back nine Wednesday. They finished at 15-over par for the week.
Mychael O'Berry added another birdie Wednesday, her third of the round and 11th of the tournament. The senior closed her stellar week with a 76 (+4) in the final round and finished tied for sixth on the player leaderboard at even par. It was her second top-10 finish of the season and fourth finish in the top 20.
Senior Kaleigh Telfer also placed in the top 20 overall this week after shooting a 75 (+3) for the third round and finishing at 2-over for the tournament.
Auburn's lowest score from the third round came from freshman Megan Schofill who fired a 74 (+2) over the last two days. On Wednesday, Schofill had a stretch where she made three birdies over the course of four holes. At 5-over, she placed in a tie for 29th overall.
Brooke Sansom and Elina Sinz carded a 76 (+4) and 77 (+5) respectively in the final round. Sansom finished tied for 45th individually while Sinz closed in a tie for 75th.
No team shot below par for the week. Duke won the tournament at even par (864) and was followed by Wake Forest (867), South Carolina (870), LSU (878), Auburn (879), Vanderbilt (880), Mississippi State (881), Georgia (886), Ole Miss (886), Alabama (889), Baylor (890), Arkansas (891), Tennessee (892), North Carolina (892), Kentucky (896), Furman (905), Florida (912) and Texas A&M (917).
Auburn will be back in action later this month for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, which runs March 19-21. The Tigers won the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic at the same course, the UGA Golf Course, in November.
