Joanne McCallie came to Auburn as a graduate assistant after her playing career at Northwestern. She was part of two Final Fours. Joanne also worked for her MBA at Auburn. McCallie was hired by Joe Ciampi for her first full time position as an assistant coach.
At age 26 she became the head coach at Maine. That's where she was diagnosed as bi-polar. At Michigan State she took the Spartans to the national championship game. From there she went to Duke. She has over 600 career wins and is currently out of the game. Last August she finished a book about mental illness…Secret Warrior. Now she spends her days speaking to groups and teams talking about her story and spending time with her family. The Audible version of her book, with her narration will be available soon.
