AUBURN, Ala.—The Auburn track and field team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational, Friday and Saturday, at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University.
Action starts Friday at 4 p.m. CT with the men's hammer throw, while running events beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the women's invitational 1500m. Only the hammer throw, invitational 1500m and 5000m will be contested Friday.
A full slate begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women's discus. The running events will start at 1:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100m relay.
Auburn enters the weekend ranked No. 11 nationally on the women's side and the men No. 22 according to the latest rankings released by the USTFCCCA.
"This weekend will be our biggest test headed into the SEC Outdoors in a few weeks," Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. "We're going to have to be locked and loaded as there is a strong field of teams competing. I'm expecting some premier marks and national marks from our team. We've got more in the tank, we've just got to finish strong, keep on competing and take care of business."
This weekend will be the Tigers second to last competition before the SEC Outdoor Championships, May 13-15, in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
The two-day meet will feature four top 10 nationally ranked teams on the men's side and five on the women's side. Teams competing besides Auburn include Akron, Baylor, Alabama, Colorado, Houston, Kentucky, Texas, Texas A&M and host LSU.
