AUBURN, Ala. – Searching for its third consecutive series win in Southeastern Conference play, Auburn softball (25-14, 5-10 SEC) travels to Oxford, Miss., for a three-game series against Ole Miss (29-15, 10-8 SEC) at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
"They are playing really good softball," said head coach Mickey Dean. "They're getting good pitching in the circle. They're playing clean defense. They have a variety of things that they can do offensively with speed and power. It's going to be a tough series, especially playing at their place. We need to make sure we're focused on us, do the things that we do well and play hard."
The series opens on Friday with a nationally televised broadcast on the SEC Network. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT. Game two of the series will also be featured on the SEC Network and is slated for 7 p.m. CT. Alex Perlman and Jennie Ritter will have the call. Sunday's series finale will be streamed on the SEC Network+ and is set for 1 p.m. CT.
Brit Bowen will have remote radio coverage for all three games of the series. Fans can hear the action on the Auburn Sports Network.
Auburn is looking to bounce back after falling at Chattanooga on Wednesday, 1-0, in the final nonconference contest of the regular season.
LEADING OFF
- Auburn returns to SEC action this weekend and is searching for its third straight conference series win as the Tigers trek to Oxford, Miss., to face the Rebels. Auburn has won nine consecutive series against Ole Miss.
- The Tigers made history with a pair of SEC weekly honors Tuesday. Maddie Penta earned her third SEC Freshman of the Week award, setting Auburn's program record. Maddison Koepke brought home the first SEC Newcomer of the Week honor in program history. The award was created this season and is only available to sophomores.
- Head coach Mickey Dean is just one shy from his 600th career coaching victory. His career record currently stands at 599-235 (.718). Earlier this season, he recorded his 100th coaching victory as the head coach of the Tigers.
- With her fourth save of the 2021 season, KK Dismukes is now tied for sixth with six other Tigers for the most saves in a single season at Auburn. The last Tiger to record at least four saves in a season was Kaylee Carlson during the 2017 campaign. She ranks third in the SEC in saves.
- With its upset series win over No. 12 Kentucky, Auburn has now won back-to-back SEC series. The win over the Wildcats was Auburn's first home series win against a ranked opponent since Arkansas in 2018.
- Slugging a pair of home runs against the Wildcats, Alyssa Rivera has solidified her name among Auburn greats. She is now eighth in Auburn career history in multi-RBI games (34), ninth in RBI (128) and 10th in home runs (30).
- Freshman Makayla Packer is a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts this season and ranks seventh in the SEC in total stolen bases. She is tied with former Tiger and current assistant coach Emily Carosone (2013) for the second most stolen bases in school history by an Auburn freshman.
- With 195 putouts this season, Justus Perry became just the sixth Tiger in school history to reach 1,000 career putouts. Perry is now fifth in program history with 1,134 career putouts.
ON DECK
The Tigers return to Jane B. Moore Field for their final home SEC series of the regular season when No. 19/17 Tennessee travels to the Plains. The series begins on April 30 with a 5 p.m. CT first pitch.
