AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's golf team, who secured a postseason bid after winning the SEC Championship, earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Louisville Regional on Wednesday and will compete May 10-12 at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

The selection marks the 26th appearance in an NCAA Regional in program history.

"It's going to be a tough region," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We're going to have to go there with our 'A' game. We need to go there prepared. We're going to go a day early so we can adjust to the Kentucky bluegrass, which none of these girls have ever played. But that's one of the great things about golf is the challenges you have to overcome.

"We're excited. We're a great team. Although the Golf Channel thinks we're underrated, we think we're right where we should be."

Auburn, ranked No. 9 nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings, will be one of seven top-25 teams competing in the NCAA Louisville and one of 12 teams ranked in the top 50.

The field also includes No. 1 South Carolina, No. 8 Florida State, No. 16 Texas, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 23 Texas Tech, No. 25 UCLA, No. 32 Michigan State, No. 34 UCF, No. 39 Tennessee, No. 41 North Florida, No. 48 Louisville, UTSA, Mercer, College of Charleston, Xavier, James Madison and Fairleigh Dickinson.

"I think we're all excited," senior Kaleigh Telfer said. "We knew that we're going to have to play well no matter where we go. It looks like a pretty tough region, but that's what we need. We need some competition to pick up our game, and I think we're all just excited to get on a plane and go somewhere."

In all four regionals there will be three rounds of stroke play, and the top six teams and three individuals from each regional will advance to play in the 2021 NCAA Championship, scheduled for May 21-26 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
