AUGUSTA, Ga. – Auburn senior Kaleigh Telfer shot a 76 (+4) at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday to finish in a tie for 22nd at the second annual Augusta National Women's Amateur.
After a double bogey start the round, Telfer bounced back with three birdies on her next five holes, including a birdie on Juniper, the challenging par-3 sixth hole. She closed out the round with five straight pars and buried a long putt on No. 18 to finish the day strong.
"In the practice round yesterday, I said to my brother – he was caddying for me – that this (No. 18) is probably one of the toughest greens on the course and we've just got to hit it on the right level," Telfer said. "I ended up doing that. It was a pretty straight right-edge putt, and I just made the putt."
This wasn't Telfer's first competitive round at Augusta National. She was one of just nine players to make the cut at both the 2019 and 2021 ANWA tournaments. But having her brother, Keagan, on the bag made Saturday's round extra special.
"He was definitely happy to be out there," Telfer said. "He tried to kick himself off the bag after the practice round, but I think he loved walking up 18 with me. It was fun."

Telfer's round capped an unforgettable week for all three Auburn players in the field. Senior Julie McCarthy and sophomore Megan Schofill missed the cut following the first two rounds, but each got the opportunity to play a practice round at Augusta National on Friday. Auburn was one of only 10 programs nationally with three or more players in the field.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season next week with the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on April 6-7.
