BATON ROUGE, La. – For the second straight day, Megan Schofill closed strong with a pair birdies on the last six holes and with a team-best 72 (E) in Wednesday's third round, the Auburn sophomore finished tied for 10th at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
It was the second top-10 finish of the season for Schofill and the sixth of her career dating back to last year. She closed out the week at 1-over and made a team-high nine birdies.
As a team, Auburn carded a 297 (+9) in the final round and finished in a tie for sixth.
Senior Elena Hualde Zuniga also shot an even-par 72 on Wednesday, matching Schofill, and finished one stroke back of her teammate at 2-over for the week. Zuniga, playing in her second tournament this season, tied for 14th among individuals – her best finish since she was tied for 12th at the Lake Oconee Invitational in February 2020.
Seniors Mychael O'Berry and Kaleigh Telfer also placed in the top 50 this week at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. O'Berry finished tied for 45th at 10-over, and Telfer, who made three birdies on her first six holes Wednesday, carded a 75 (+3) in the final round and tied for 50th overall.
LSU, the host school, shot 12-under as a team to win the event while Ole Miss (+10), Vanderbilt (+10), Texas A&M (+12) and Arkansas (+16) rounded out the top five.
This was the final regular season tournament for Auburn who will now set their sights on the postseason, beginning with the SEC Championship on April 14-18. Two years ago at SECs, the Tigers made it to the semifinals in match play before falling to South Carolina.
