Rankin Woley named Senior CLASS Award candidate

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Graduate infielder Rankin Woley has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award.
 
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
 
Woley is coming off a 2020 season during which he was not only named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and CoSIDA Academic All-America, but also earned Collegiate Baseball All-America honors after being the only player in Division I to rank in the top 20 in hits, doubles and RBI. Woley currently leads the Tigers with a .389 average during SEC play and ranks third overall with a .337 clip.
 
The Atlanta, Georgia native graduated summa cum laude with a 3.92 GPA last summer, earning his bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and is currently taking classes to prepare for medical school.
 
Despite staying busy both on the field and in the classroom, Woley has also made an impact in the community, participating in events such as visiting Children's of Alabama and hosting a camp with the Miracle League of East Alabama.
 
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. 
 
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in May, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches, and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character, and competition.
 
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 College World Series® in June.
