SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The Auburn women's golf team started strong on the second day of the NCAA Louisville Regional, but the Tigers struggled to maintain momentum on back nine of the University of Louisville Golf Club as the team finished in 12th (592, +16) Tuesday afternoon.

"It looked as if we were trying not to play bad today," head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We will have to play with the mindset of making very confident swings on every single shot tomorrow. We have nothing to protect. Our best day is usually our last day."

The Tigers look to make a big move up the leaderboard during Wednesday's final round. The top six teams after tomorrow will advance to the NCAA Championship.

Fifth year senior Elena Hualde Zúñiga guided the Tigers on day two, shooting an even 72. The Pamplona, Spain product led the team with four birdies on the day, including back-to-back birdies to finish out the round and come in with the even score.

She and Kaleigh Telfer are tied for 20th overall with a 146 (+2) apiece.

After a double bogey on the third hole, Telfer regrouped and fired off two birdies to close out the front nine at even. The senior finished the back strong with a birdie and a par to come in at 1-over on the day.

Senior Mychael O'Berry had a solid start to the round, shooting even through the first nine. The Hoover, Ala. native battled through the back half of the course and finished the day with a 76 (+4). She stands tied for 31st with a 148 (+4).

Closing out the Auburn lineup was sophomore Megan Schofill and freshman Elina Sinz. The pair are tied for 62nd (152, +8) and 68th (153, +9), respectively. Schofill led the team with 13 pars on the day, while Sinz finished with two birdies.

Wednesday's third and final round will begin at 7 a.m. CT for the Tigers and the team will start on the back nine. Auburn will be paired with Mercer and North Florida to finish the three-day tournament.
