Ovunc is 13-10 in singles on the season and ranked No. 61 in the most recent ITA singles rankings. She has been ranked as high as 56th this season as she played every dual match for the Tigers at the No. 1 spot. She earned a pair of wins over ranked opponents, defeating No. 35 Indianna Spink (Arkansas) and No. 50 Taylor Bridges (LSU) in dual matches. Her final three matches of the spring season were unfinished in third sets, all against top-30 opponents.

Ovunc and Jones squared off earlier this season in Auburn's dual match at Georgia Tech on Jan. 31 in Atlanta. Jones prevailed 7-5, 6-2, in a victory for the Yellow Jackets.

This will be the ninth time Auburn has had an individual qualifier in the NCAA singles championship. Fani Chifchieva earned a bid all four years from 2007-10, advancing to the semifinals in 2008. Pleun Burgmans (2013), Alizee Michaud (2016), Andie Dikosavljevic (2016) and Jaeda Daniel (2018) also earned bids to the tournament.
