SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Auburn women's golf team battled desert wind on Saturday and concluded the second day of the 2021 NCAA Championships in 20th overall. The Tigers entered the clubhouse at 604 (+28) after two rounds on the par 72, 6,384-yard Grayhawk Golf Course in Scottsdale.

"We knew the wind was going to be a factor this afternoon," head coach Melissa Luellen said. "We prepared by working on committing to the finish of each swing. It was a solid day as we had no scores over bogey from five players. That was impressive considering the 20-30 mpg wind gusts and lurking desert on every hole. We will need to continue that focus to continue to climb tomorrow."

Fifth-year senior Elena Hualde Zúñiga and sophomore Megan Schofill currently stand tied for 40th individually at 4-over 148.

Hualde Zúñiga put together a solid round for the Tigers, scoring a 1-over 73 on the day. The Pamplona, Spain product had a team-best four birdies, including a four on the par 5 18th hole to close things out. Schofill finished the second round with a 2-over 74, earning two birdies and having 12 pars.

Senior Mychael O'Berry had a steady day on the course, having a team-best 15 pars overall. She carded a 3-over 75 and moved to 8-over over two rounds.

Closing out the Auburn contingent was senior Kaleigh Telfer and freshman Anna Foster. Each finished with a 5-over 77 on the day.

The Tigers tee off at 12:36 p.m. local time and will compete with Maryland and Virginia Tech.
