This week's Alumni Spotlight features Kim Suarez-Terrell! She competed for the Tigers in 1987-90 and never missed a lineup throughout her career. Suarez-Terrell was a Scholastic All-American during her time on the Plains and was a part of the Auburn squad that finished fourth at the 1990 SEC Championship. The team's place was the best in program history at the time.
Years competed: 1987-90
Major: "I earned a psychology degree with pre-physical therapy prerequisites. I went on to get my masters at UAB in physical therapy."
Current job: "I'm an orthopedic physical therapist and I'm also a center manager for Select Physical Therapy."
Why did you chose your profession: "Through gymnastics, I was always rehabbing some injury or conditioning to prevent injury and improve performance. Physical therapy was a natural transition for me."
How did Auburn prepare you to be successful in your field: "Auburn prepared me academically as well as provided experience in my field through athletics. However, the discipline, loyalty and accountability instilled in me from the Auburn experience has proven to be invaluable."
Advice to current and future Auburn gymnasts: "The discipline of collegiate gymnastics will teach you more about life and will prepare you for a bright future more than you can ever imagine. You may not see it at the moment, but you will cherish and value those years above all else."
What does Auburn Family mean to you?: "Auburn is home. It seeds deep in your soul. It applauds you in your success and will lift you up in challenging times. There is nothing like it! War Eagle Forever!
