AUBURN, Ala. – Ruben Lindsay, the top-ranked junior golfer in Europe, has signed his National Letter of Intent with Auburn, head coach Nick Clinard announced Friday. Lindsay, who hails from Ayr, Scotland, is expected to arrive on The Plains prior to the spring portion of the 2021-22 season.

"I'm excited to welcome Ruben and his family to our family at Auburn," Clinard said. "Ruben is a dynamic player and the No. 1 ranked junior golfer in Europe. He comes from an outstanding family and is a high-character young man. Ruben has a very bright future in the game and will be an immediate impact player in college golf. Both Coach (Chris) Williams and I are elated to ink his signature to be an Auburn Tiger."

Lindsay earned the No. 1 spot from European Golf Rankings following an impressive campaign that included events in both Scotland and England. He boasted an average round of 69.06 in counting events during the 2020-21 season.

Lindsay captured the Scottish Boys National Match Play Championship and also took home first place during the stroke play portion of the 2020 British Amateur.

He also was the medalist in stroke play and won the match play event at the Stephen Gallacher Foundation National Championship.

Lindsay won the ProDreamUSA UK Junior Open and Faldo Scotland Championship in 2020 and also helped set the team record for points at Under 16 Quadrangular.

More recently, Lindsay took fourth place and tied for the lowest score by an amateur at the 2021 St. Andrews Links Trophy tournament.

He also was the lowest-scoring amateur at the Scottish Men's Open Championship in May after carding four below-par rounds, including three in the 60s, to finish 12th in a field of 144.
