TOKYO, Japan – Auburn tennis alumnus Tim Puetz made his Olympic debut Saturday morning at the Tokyo Olympics, as he and German partner Kevin Krawietz easily defeated Argentina's Diego Schwartzman and Facundo Bagnis in the opening match of the day in men's doubles in competition at Ariake Tennis Park.
Puetz and Krawietz stormed through their first set, winning the first five games before taking the set by a 6-2 margin in just 31 minutes.
The second set went much the same way, as the German tandem went up 5-0 on the Argentinian pair and finished the match with a 6-2, 6-1 score.
The Germans move on to face the winner of the first-round match between Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury of Great Britain and Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France in the Round of 16.
