With first serve of the 2021 season less than two weeks away, Auburn volleyball preps for a full fall slate under head coach Brent Crouch. As the season approaches, we'll introduce the six new Tigers donning an Auburn uniform for the first time in their careers. Newcomer number five is Jordan Sinness, a setter from Sebring, Fla.
Q: Why did you choose to continue your career at Auburn?
Sinness: I loved the culture of Auburn University and the culture coach Crouch is establishing with Auburn volleyball.
Q: What do you do to calm your nerves before or during a match?
Sinness: I tell myself to have fun, enjoy the moment and play the game like I did when I was 10 years old.
Q: What do you enjoy about this team so far?
Sinness: I love spending time and hanging out with my teammates, especially bugging my locker buddy, Tatum Shipes, because I know she loves me more than life.
Q: How would you describe your ideal pizza?
Sinness: Chicken, bacon and ranch with ranch-seasoned crust. It is the best. Do I really need to explain why?
Q: What is an interesting fact about yourself that the Auburn family should know?
Sinness: My older sister, Jade, plays softball about an hour and a half down the road at Troy University.
Q: What are your favorite social media platforms to use?
Sinness: The one I use the most is Snapchat, but I love going on Instagram and TikTok and sending my friends and family funny things. My Instagram handle is @jordan_sinness.
Q: Besides volleyball, what sports do you enjoy following?
Sinness: I enjoy watching all sports, but mainly basketball, football and, weirdly enough, curling.
Q: What is one word you'd use to describe yourself on the court and one word you'd use to describe yourself off the court?
Sinness: Passionate on the court because I love the game and my team, and I want everyone to do their best. Goofy off the court because I love having a good time and just going with the flow of things.
Q: If you had a million dollars to donate to a charity of your choice, which charity would you donate it to?
Sinness: I'd choose St. Jude's because they are a great organization and I hope to go into the medical field as a doctor or nurse some day.
Q: If you could only eat one more for the rest of your life, what would that meal be?
Sinness: Pasta. There are so many different types and they are always so delicious.
Q: How does the coaching staff at Auburn compare to previous coaches you've had throughout your career?
Sinness: They are actually very similar. They made me feel right at home. That is another reason I made the decision to come to Auburn.
Q: What is your message to the Auburn family regarding the upcoming season?
Sinness: We'd love to have you all come out and support us. It is going to be a great season!
