Coming out of high school, most assumed Willie Anderson was headed to Alabama. He was the top offensive lineman prospect in the country. Alabama had won the national championship. Auburn went through a coaching change. Willie Anderson headed to the Plains.

An All-American at Auburn, he played guard on the unbeaten 1993 team, then switched to tackle. A first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, Anderson went on to an All-Pro career. He was a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year.  Along with former baseball coach Hall Baird & basketball coach Cliff Ellis, Anderson was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in the spring.  

These days, he runs the Willie Anderson Lineman Academy in Atlanta.
