With first serve of the 2021 set for Friday night, Auburn volleyball is days away from beginning a full fall slate under head coach Brent Crouch.  As the season approaches, we'll introduce the six new Tigers donning an Auburn uniform for the first time in their careers. The final newbie hitting the court this season is Kate Curtis, a freshman out of Anderson S.C.

Q: Why did you choose to continue your career at Auburn?
Curtis: When I visited, I thought the campus was beautiful and the facilities were unbeatable. The people are always so friendly and southern. I love it.

Q: What is your intended major and what would you like to do with it?
Curtis: My major is interior design. I would like to do a lot of work in hotels designing spaces for people to enjoy.

Q: What is your favorite TV show?
Curtis: I love watching "The Office." It is my favorite TV show because the humor is right down my alley, and I can always count on it to give me a good laugh.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
Curtis: I actually do not have any pregame superstitions. I'm not big on them because I like to know that whatever I do when I step on the court is because of the work I've put in and not because of something like a special pair of socks.

Q: What is the best vacation or trip you've ever been on?
Curtis: One time, I got to go on a trip to the Bahamas with my whole family and both sets of grandparents. That was probably the best vacation I've been on. I love being with my family ,and I really cherish those moments even more now that I don't get to see them all the time.

Q: Do you have any pets either here or back at home?
Curtis: I have three dogs back home! I have a black lab named Diesel, a peekapoo named Sage and a goldendoodle named Aubie!

Q: Do you have any quotes that you try to live and play by?
Curtis: A few months ago, I stumbled on Matthew 20:26 that says, "But whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant," and so recently I have really tried to be intentional about servant leadership and showing God off through the way I serve others.

Q: What is your favorite movie?
Curtis: "American Sniper" is my favorite movie because I love a good action movie, and action mixed with a romantic twist gets me every time.

Q: Who is Kate Curtis off the volleyball court?
Curtis: When I'm not playing volleyball, I love doing all things artsy and active! I really enjoys designing or creating things, but I also enjoy a good game of Spikeball or going on a hike.

Q: What makes Auburn volleyball special?
Curtis: Auburn volleyball is special because it is so intentional in every aspect. There isn't a practice, meeting, drill or conversation that we have that isn't purpose-filled. On top of that, not only are we getting to learn and grow as athletes, but we're getting to do it in the most incredible facilities with incredible people surrounding us.
