With first serve of the 2021 season three weeks away, Auburn volleyball preps for a full fall slate under head coach Brent Crouch. As the season approaches, we'll introduce the six new Tigers donning an Auburn uniform for the first time in their careers. Third in line is Fallan Lanham, a Louisville, Ky. native and one of four true freshmen on this season's roster.
Q: Why did you choose to continue your career at Auburn?
Lanham: Auburn is known to be a family-oriented school. I knew that I wanted to be a part of the Auburn family and continue to play volleyball here.
Q: What is your major and what do you plan to do with it?
Lanham: My major is communications. I hope to be the director of operations for a college team one day – possibly Auburn. I would also like to get into medical sales and use my communication skills to promote products.
Q: What is one word you'd use to describe yourself on the court and one word you'd use to describe yourself off the court?
Lanham: On the court, I'm a hustler. Nothing will stop me from being the best I can be and pursuing every ball thrown my way. Off the court, I'd say I'm easygoing. I consider myself to be the type of person who goes with the flow and is not too stressed out all the time.
Q: What do you do to calm your nerves before or during a match?
Lanham: One thing I do to calm my nerves before a match is listen to the song "Last Breath," and then I take one big, deep breath and lock in.
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
Lanham: My favorite holiday is Christmas because it is the time of year for loving, giving and remembering who this holiday is truly for. It's the time of year that everyone gets to spend with their family and friends. You get to focus on loving them unconditionally and showing your love for Jesus.
Q: What has been the highlight of your volleyball career so far?
Lanham: The highlight of my volleyball career has been committing to Auburn after years of working hard to play at the collegiate level.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
Lanham: My favorite movie is "Creed" because it's a very motivational movie, and Rocky is also featured in it. He's always been someone I have admired. Coming from Louisville, Muhammad Ali has had a huge impact on the city and fighting has always been something my family and I watch together.
Q: What is one word you would use to describe coach Crouch?
Lanham: Motivational.
Q: As a freshman, how do you think you can contribute to the team this year?
Lanham: Energy! No one can stop us in pursuit of our goals. We have great leadership that will help us learn to be the best competitors we can be.
Q: What is an interesting fact about yourself that the Auburn family should know?
Lanham: I can cross one of my eyes while keeping the other one looking straight forward.
Q: What jersey number will you wear, and does that hold any special meaning to you?
Lanham: The jersey I will be wearing is #4 because my brother was also #4 when he played football at Western Kentucky and Marshall.
Q: What message do you have for Auburn fans regarding the 2021 season?
Lanham: The best is yet to come. War Eagle!
