AUBURN, Ala. – For the Auburn women's golf team, the 2021-22 season officially tees off Friday at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee.

Earlier in the month, Auburn was represented by three individuals at the Cougar Classic – all three finished in the top 40 – but the Tigers will have a full squad and compete as a team for the first time this weekend, playing at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

"I feel like our season is starting now," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "It's been a little challenging just trying to get everybody together at the same time. We've had some interruptions. But I feel like we're now a whole team, and the five that are traveling are very excited and ready to tee it up."

The three individuals who played in Charleston – Anna Foster, Julie McCarthy and Megan Schofill – will be joined by Mychael O'Berry and Elina Sinz.

Schofill, who finished tied for 12th at the Cougar Classic, will take the top spot in Auburn's lineup for Mason Rudolph. The junior paced the Tigers in the event two years ago when she finished tied for 10th overall, shooting even par over three rounds.

"I feel like I'm hitting the ball pretty solid," Schofill said. "Everything is pretty consistent right now. I'm still working on a few things in my game, short game especially, but I'm hoping this week I can take what I learned and what I did well at Yeamans Hall into Nashville."

Schofill will be followed by Foster, who closed out the Cougar Classic with a 2-under 70 in the final round. Then it will be the two seniors, O'Berry and McCarthy, with Sinz rounding out the group. O'Berry and Sinz will both be making their season debuts.

The field of 15 teams features five teams ranked in the latest WGCA Coaches Poll, including Auburn who checked in at No. 17. The Tigers will be paired with Washington and Middle Tennessee State on Friday and tee off at 10:55 a.m. CT.
