SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – The Auburn men's golf team battled hard, but ultimately fell at the hands of Ole Miss, 3-2, to open Sunday's action at the SEC Match Play Championship.

The Tigers will now continue tournament play in the consolation bracket throughout the remainder of the event.

Sophomore Carson Bacha showed no signs of nerves in his first official tournament as a Tiger, besting Ole Miss' Brown 3&2 to secure the first Auburn victory of the day.

Following Bacha, junior Austin Coggin also secured a 3&2 win over his Rebel counterpart for the final Tiger point of the day.

Sophomore J.M. Butler and juniors Alex Vogelsong and C.J. Easley all traded blows with the opponent early, but fell late, securing the round one win for Ole Miss.

Squaring off in the first pool play matchup against Missouri, the Auburn Tigers saw little action before the round was postponed due to darkness. Play will resume at 9 a.m. CT.
