AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn fifth-year defender Alyssa Malonson was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week Tuesday morning.

It marks the second time Malonson has been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer in 2021. It's also the eighth time through as many weeks this season an Auburn player has been recognized by the publication.

"Alyssa was outstanding this weekend," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "She was a massive reason we had two shutouts. She cleaned up so many balls behind our backs and really limited both teams' offensive opportunities. She added to the offense as well with the game-winning assist against LSU."

Malonson played an instrumental role in Auburn's defensive efforts in a pair of shutout wins at Mississippi State and against LSU.

Making her 89th and 90th consecutive starts in an Auburn uniform – tied for the second longest streak in program history – Malonson was on the field for all 183 minutes of action in the two contests and repeatedly thwarted the opposition's attack as the Tigers allowed only five shots on goal.

Additionally, the Spring, Texas, native assisted on the team's game-winning goal in overtime against LSU, heading a ball to Marissa Arias, who put it into the back of the net. The assist was Malonson's fourth of the season and 23rd of her career, tied for the eighth most in program history.

Malonson and the No. 22 Tigers (10-3-0, 4-2-0 SEC) return to action as they host Florida (3-8-3, 2-3-1 SEC) Sunday at 12 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
