Tigers conclude day two of SEC Match Play on high note

SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – After dropping the morning match to Missouri, 3-1-1, the Auburn men's golf team wrapped up Monday's action with a 4-0-1 lead on Mississippi State before the round was called for the day due to darkness.
 
Junior Alex Vogelsong defeated Mississippi State's Jay Nimmo, 6&4, to nab the first official point for Auburn in the bout. Sophomore Carson Bacha continued to wow in his collegiate debut, following up Vogelsong with a 5&4 victory of his own against Loic Ettlin.
 
At the conclusion of the second day's action, J.M. Butler and C.J. Easley hold slight advantages over their Bulldog foes while junior Austin Coggin remains tied with his opponent through 15 holes.
 
Butler, Easley and Coggin will finalize the round against Mississippi State, teeing off at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday morning.
 
In Monday's leadoff match versus Missouri, Vogelsong secured the lone Auburn point with a 3&2 win over Sigurbrandsson.

Easley ended his battle with Tsai in a stalemate, resulting in no point addition for either team.
 
Bacha fell, 1-DOWN, to Missouri's Crockett while Butler and Coggin were defeated by Parker and Lundin, 3&2, respectively.
 
Succeeding the completion of Tuesday morning's matchup with Mississippi State, the Tigers are slated to battle the Wildcats of Kentucky at 8:50 a.m. CT.
 
The Wildcats fell, 3-2, in round one action to Georgia and again to Mississippi State, 3-2, in their first pool play matchup. They unofficially lead Missouri, 3-1-1, heading into the morning.
