AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men's golf team will close out its 2021 fall season in Windermere, Florida, competing at the Isleworth Collegiate, Oct. 17-19. The world-class event was founded in 2003 with help of Tigers head coach Nick Clinard and was originally coined the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
"This tournament is very dear to my heart," said Clinard. "I've played that course numerous times myself in addition to competing there as a coach. It's arguably one of the best tournaments in the country. We're looking forward to getting down there and having the opportunity to compete at a first-class event against such a great field of competition."
Golfers from 14 different universities across the nation will be competing for the tournament's top honors.
Returning to stroke play action for the first time since opening weekend, the Tigers look to build upon their tremendous performance at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate where they earned a third-place team finish and sophomore J.M. Butler broke the program record for lowest round of 54 after firing a -17 to win the individual championship.
Alongside Butler, making the trip for the Tigers will be juniors Alex Vogelsong and Austin Coggin, sophomore Carson Bacha and freshman Brendan Valdes.
The trio of Butler, Coggin, and Vogelsong has been nothing but reliable throughout the Tigers' fall slate, now logging action in each of Auburn's four tournaments.
Bacha is returning to the starting lineup for the second tournament in a row after an impressive collegiate debut at the SEC Match Play Championship where he picked up wins against both Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Valdes will make the second appearance of his freshman campaign after seeing action in Ohio at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup.
The Isleworth field includes #3 Arizona State, #21 Auburn, Augusta, California, Coastal Carolina, RV Florida, #17 Illinois, RV LSU, Minnesota, North Florida, RV SMU, South Carolina, and co-hosts West Virginia and UCF.
Each day of competition will consist of one 18-hole round played on the club's par 72, 7,544-yard course.
