Two doubles wins for Auburn Friday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Auburn's doubles team of Madeline Meredith and Anastasia Astakhova won two of three matches played Friday as the Roberta Alison Classic got underway.
 
"Maddie and Anastasia learned a lot today," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said. "I loved their energy, professionalism, and responses to misses. The execution will continue to improve as we stay committed to playing the right way."
 
The Tiger tandem opened the day with a win over Clark and Som of Virginia Tech, 7-6 (5). They came up short in their second match of the day, dropping a 7-5 decision to Mellynchuk and Silva of UAB, but bounced back in the day's final match to defeat Markham and Johnson of Wisconsin, 7-6 (5).
 
The tournament continues Saturday with two rounds of singles. Results will be posted on RollTide.com as matches finish, and a full recap will follow the day's play on AuburnTigers.com.
