Seven Tigers named NFCA Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Seven members of the 2021 Auburn softball program were named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2020-21 academic year, the organization announced Tuesday.
 
To qualify for scholar-athlete recognition, a student-athlete must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the previous academic year.
 
Among the Tigers honored are returning duo of sophomore Kelsey Schmidt and junior Maddie Majors. Former student-athletes Rachel Cook, Makenna Dowell, Lexie Handley, Haley Nillen and Abby Tissier were also recognized by the organization.
 
This weekend, Auburn continues its fall exhibition slate at Jane B. Moore Field as the Tigers welcome Auburn University Montgomery for a scheduled 10-inning contest. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
