David Marsh wanted to be a baseball player, until a coach told him to find another sport. Baseball's loss is swimming's gain. He became an SEC champion at Auburn. When he came back to his alma mater, he guided the Tigers to a total of 11 national championships. He led the Tigers to a sweep of the women's and men's NCAA titles four times. All total, Marsh coached 49 Olympians from 19 countries. In 2016, he was the head coach of the U.S. Women's Olympic team in Rio, setting a record for the number of medals won.
Last month, Marsh was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. His good friend and Auburn great, Rowdy Gaines, served as the emcee.
David Marsh is featured in this Talking Tigers Podcast, presented by Wickles Pickles.
