JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three Auburn women's tennis student-athletes were unbeaten in six matches Friday at the UNF Fall Invitational.
Carolyn Ansari, Yu Chen and Madeline Meredith each won a singles match and combined for three doubles wins as the final tournament of the fall got underway at North Florida.
"The focus and intensity with which our three players competed today is encouraging to see," Auburn assistant coach Megan Falcon said. "We remain focused on approaching each opportunity with the same tenacity and grit!"
Ansari and Meredith teamed up for a pair of doubles wins in the main flight. They defeated Berry and Schumacher of South Florida, 6-2, in the first round before earning a 6-3 win over Dudeney and Shelton of Florida in the semifinal.
Chen teamed up with Annabelle Davis of North Florida to earn a 6-4 win over Mullen and Zhu of Tulane.
In singles, Ansari won in three sets over Marie Mattel of UCF, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0, in the first match of Flight A. Chen downed Grace Schumacher of USF, 7-6 (3), 6-3 in Flight B, and Meredith made it a clean sweep with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win over UNF's Isabel Oliveira in Flight C.
