KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Auburn soccer players Alyssa Malonson, Anna Haddock and Marissa Arias were named United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Monday.
Malonson and Haddock earned first-team honors, marking the second straight season both were named all-region, while Arias was named third team all-region and is a first-time honoree. It marks the second straight season Auburn has had three all-region honorees, tied for the third most honorees in program history.
"Alyssa, Anna and Marissa all had terrific seasons this year," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "Each of them played a major role in our team's success and we are thrilled to see them recognized by our coaches association."
All three recipients also earned All-SEC honors a month ago. Malonson was named the SEC Defender of the Year and was joined by Haddock as a First Team All-SEC honoree. Arias earned Second Team All-SEC honors.
Malonson finished her career having played more games in an Auburn uniform than any other player. She set the program records for games played, games started and consecutive games started as she ultimately logged 97 straight starts in the Orange and Blue.
Despite making a position change midway through the season, the Spring, Texas native was instrumental in leading the Tigers to seven shutouts, including a league-best five in SEC play. The 20th overall pick in last year's NWSL Draft, Malonson also pitched in by matching a career high with eight points on two goals and four assists. She finished her career tied for eighth in program history with 23 assists.
After tying for the team lead in points and earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors a season ago, Haddock was the league's only sophomore to earn First Team All-SEC honors and finished the season as Auburn's leader in goals (nine) and points (26) while tying for the team lead in assists (eight). Her nine goals and 26 points were the fourth most by an Auburn underclassman in program history.
The Bowling Green, Kentucky native scored eight of her nine goals in the first 10 games of the season, becoming the first Auburn player to score that many goals in the first 10 games since 2000. She scored the game winner in three of the first five contests and tallied four game winners on the year, tied for the eighth most in single-season history.
Leading the offensive attack alongside Haddock, Arias ranked second on the team in points (17) and tied for second in goals (seven) and game winners (three). The San Antonio, Texas native finished the SEC slate tied for the league lead with five goals in conference play, including a pair of game winners in back-to-back victories against LSU on Oct. 10 and Florida on Oct. 17.
Arias made her first career start against Alabama A&M on Sept. 9 and tallied a career best five points on two goals and an assist, starting a streak of seven goals and 15 points in a span of nine games. Fourteen of Arias' 26 shots this season were on goal and seven found the back of the net, leading the team in both shot percentage and shots on goal percentage.
