AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter has been named to the Freshman All-SEC Team, the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday.
 
Hunter, from Neshoba Central High School in Philadelphia, Mississippi, debuted in dramatic fashion, rushing for more than 100 yards in each of his first two games, including the longest run in Auburn history, a 94-yard scamper vs. Alabama State in his second college football game.
 
Heading into the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl, he's rushed for 576 yards on 84 carries with three rushing touchdowns, an average of 6.86 yards per carry. Hunter added 12 receptions for 61 yards, including a 9-yard TD catch vs. Ole Miss.
 
His 44-yard fourth-quarter run at LSU set up Auburn's game-winning touchdown. Hunter ranks No. 8 In program history for most rushing yards in a season by a freshman.
 
Hunter also impacted Auburn's special teams, recording four tackles in kickoff coverage, including a pair of solos vs. South Carolina.
