AUBURN, Ala. – With the 2021 season opener looming, one final preseason accolade was bestowed to a Tiger as Auburn softball newcomer Shelby Lowe was tabbed one of the Top 15 True Freshmen entering the season by D1 Softball.
Lowe, a left-handed pitcher, was ranked No. 15 by the publication. She was one of five SEC student-athletes to make the list.
One of the top pitching prospects from the state of Alabama, Lowe was the 2020 Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year and won five All-State honors during her prep career at Pickens Academy.
During her shortened senior season, Lowe went 8-0 in the circle with a 0.76 ERA. She struck out 97 batters and walked just six in 46 innings. Just as dominating at the plate, Lowe was batting .429 before the season ended due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Lowe was the 2019 AISA Pitcher of the Year after a lights out junior season. Lowe held a 19-4 record with a 0.14 ERA. She struck out 336 in just 150 innings pitched.
